Millions of Ukrainians now live in one country while a large part of their life stays in another. A mother's pension is paid in Ukraine. An apartment sits empty in a city you cannot easily get to. A notary needs a signature you can only give in person, except that you cannot be there in person.

None of this is dramatic, and none of it is in the news. It is paperwork, fees, queues, and procedures that change without announcement — and getting one of them wrong costs money or months. That is the part of diaspora life this site is about.

Who it is for

Ukrainians living outside Ukraine who still carry responsibilities inside it, whether they left in 2022 or their family left generations ago. The practical questions turn out to be remarkably similar: how to move money without losing a slice of it, how to sign something from abroad, how to look after a parent from a different time zone, and how to keep a property from quietly becoming a liability.

How we publish

  • Nothing invented. If we have not checked a number ourselves, it does not go on the page. Every fee, rate, and cost carries the date it was verified, so you can see when it is going stale.
  • The primary source, always. For anything procedural — consular rules, pension requirements, protection status — we link straight to the ministry, consulate, or agency that publishes it. We explain how something works and what usually trips people up. We are not the source of record, and we will not pretend to be one.
  • General information, not advice. Nothing here is legal, immigration, or financial advice, and reading it creates no professional relationship. When a question genuinely needs a lawyer or a notary, we say so instead of guessing.
  • Free, and honest about money. The guides and tools cost nothing to read. Where we earn a commission from a service we mention, we say so on the page. We will not recommend a more expensive option because it pays better, and we do not sell anything to people who are already stretched.
  • No politics, no war coverage. There are far better places for both. This is the practical desk.

Corrections

Rules change, and pages go out of date. If something here is wrong, tell us — a link to the agency page is the fastest way to get it fixed, and we update the date on the page when we do.
